Corcova, the Land of Wines...

The history begins in 1594, when Corcova is mentioned for the first time in an official document: Michael the Brave (Mihai Viteazu) presented two vineyards in Corcova to a local noble. But the glory came much later, when Corcova became the property of the Bibescu family. The noble Anton Bibescu, friend of Marcel Proust, was a recognized figure in Paris, so he succeeded to make known the Corcova name in the European high society of the time.
In 2005, a new Romanian company revived Corcova, buying 100 hectars of land and replanting some noble grape vine varieties. Also, the cellars were completely restored, respecting the original architecture.
The Corcova mineral soil, and the mediterranean climate are perfect for the grapes. The production process is watched carefully, and a lot of work is done manually. So, the tinest impurity is eliminated from the final product, the delightful Corcova wine.
You could find the history of Corcova wines by wathcing the presentation movie, directed by Dorel Mihaila, produced by Havas Worldwide ADDV (ADDV Euro RSCG), with a soundtrack signed Electric Brother featuring Marta Hristea:

The wine producer Corcova Roy&Damboviceanu is partner of this major and distinguished event, and it adds more delight. The Corcova Roy&Damboviceanu company has always sustained the arts - music, dance, photography or other. Over the passing years, it has supported some important art and cultural happenings in Romania. One of these important cultural events is the yearly Awards Gala organized by Radio Romania Cultural. The making of wine is also an art, but Corcova has another argument for this support: the cultural heritage of the vineyard founded by Prince Bibescu the last century. Let's remember that many cultural personalities from Romania and Europe have appreciated the taste and savour of Corcova wines, and they have express, publicly or privately, their esteem...
